Slean foils an attempt by Abrecan and his mistress Saray to prevent his wedding by killing Kela, after which Kela admits to poisoning her sister in order to take her place and the marriage goes ahead. Bounty hunters arrive in Herot, demanding to arrest Breca for murder.
