On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 had just taken off from New York City’s LaGuardiaAirport when it collided with a flock of birds, destroying both engines. With all engine power lost,Captain Chesley ‘Sully’ Sullenberger and co-pilot Jeffrey Skyles were forced to glide the plane andperform an emergency ditching in the Hudson River. All 155 people on board survived the ‘Miracleon the Hudson’ thanks to the quick thinking by the crew.
